when it rains, it pours.

...and in our case, it pours snow. Happy spring everyone!
It's been a crazy week. Of course we bought a house--- so the world throws at us crazy stuff.... like our 200,000 mile red car needs work. and our doggies had their annual vet visit (read lots of $$). But thats ok. Life could be worse. We will survive. And at the end of the day we have one awesome car, a fabulous new home, and each other. Oh--- and two healthy doggies. One of which has gained 10 pounds the past year!

Really though.... This snow is quite ridiculous. We are ready for spring! Sunshine. Flowers. WARM WEATHER. Please remind me of this post, if when I start complaining of the heat. But really, its almost April and this was our cute little home. I am just thankful we didn't start working in the yard!

I must say, I LOVEEEEE our enchanted forest in the backyard. Our city yard looks like this in the back! It makes me happy. Have I mentioned there is a trail down from our back yard to a creek?!? If we stick around in this house for several years I can just imagine little boys (or girls) exploring back there and venturing to the creek to find frogs and critters.

Well- despite the snow, we spent a couple days working at the house for a few hours... and finally we are seeing the fruits of our labor!

We went with a grey color for the walls. I will find the exact color for you and let you know.
And Ryan re-painted the beadboard with a can of plain white paint we had in the basement.

WE LOVE the final look! Although--- we will be painting a second coat of the grey- just to make it more finished. The beadboard trim needs to be finished. We filled the tons of holes in the beadboard so hopefully it will look so nice!

Above the shower...
Ideally- we plan on re-grouting the tile. Ryan has researched and found some great tutorials so we think its something we can do- and will make it look like new!

If you remember back to the ceiling of our bathroom-- (just keep scrolling down, you will see it in case you don't remember)-- the vent fan was DISGUSTING. NASTY black. I wanted to just buy a new one... until I priced them. 70$ for a whole new fan ?!? UMMMM NO. The fan works.
So to the sink the cover went, and I scrubbed scrubbed scrubbed.

Note the nasty blackness in the sink. There was a lot of that.
After it was clean, back in place it went... and wahhhh---lahhhh! An amazingly clean, white and finished looking ceiling!

We are THRILLED with this bathroom. I can't wait to put the finishing touches back up!

Let me update you on some recent Goodwill finds. This lovely closet drawer shelf contraption is a really nicely made one. This is step one to making this closet more functional. There will be lots more shelves and bars and a re-doing of this space. but so far--- its going in the right direction! And for FARRR less than full price!

And then my favorite find recently... THESE BEAUTIES!

We have been casually searching for bar stool/chairs for our bar in the kitchen. We wanted something nice, but 100$/pop was not going to cut it. Most stools like this have been 60$/each at the CONSIGNMENT shops so we weren't in any rush. But then... I saw these great stools. Sturdy. Thick. Wood. and RED!
I LOVE the red. I think it will look awesome in our new kitchen!!

Here they are in their new home... Please note... they will look great in the NEW kitchen. Next to the lime green wall, purple trim, and navy living room-- its like a terrible color explosion. But in the DREAM world... our kitchen will be black & white tile floor. maybe grey walls? With pops of red?!? Very classic. for our classic 50's home. These will be awesome! And they are sturdy wood--- so we could easily paint them if the red doesn't work out. OH! and best part... 30$ each. YES. We were soooo happy!

There you have it for our recent doings in the home. My mom is coming in a week... this promises LOTS of projects! Hoping to pressure wash the outside and paint like crazy people!
