haiti

well. im going to haiti.
next month. 40 days to be exact.
im flying down with another PA, doctor and nurse.
I can't tell you how excited I am.
even more excited about the work we will do.
we fly into Port-au-Prince then will be based out of Titanyen.
we will travel to different medical clinics in neighboring villages daily.
one of those days working in tent city.
some days we will be in some sort of building.
other days we will set up clinic on a tarp on top of a mountain.
then provide healthcare. evaluate. diagnose. treat.
oh mannnnn. my heart starts to race just thinking about it.

a church that was used for a mobile clinic

i have done a lot of exciting and fun things in life.
i have been to some incredible places.
i have a feeling this one is going to be eye-opening and life changing.
ive seen poverty. ive seen need. but ive heard, that there is nothing like haiti.

a small room in a clinic--- this picture was taken after a woman had given birth in this exact chair! unbelievable.

the next 40 days I will be taking up a collection of supplies needed by the haitians.
if you are able, please help me collect these very simple, but very needed items that we take for granted. things like baby formula is 4-5 times more expensive in haiti. simple over the counter medications like tums and rolaids, are just simply not available.

please, use your small group, your church, or your paycheck to help out as you are able.
if you feel led to help, but live far away, please let me know and i'll arrange shipping to my home before we leave. any medications or supplies will help.
just think, next time you have a headache, or a sore throat, and go to your medicine cabinet to grab some medications--- we are blessed. not everyone has theraflu, cough syrup, benadryl, even ibuprofen.

give as you are able. let me know if you want to help.

ITEMS NEEDED FOR HAITI

baby formula
baby diapers
benadryl
zyrtec, claritin, allegra
tums, rolaids
zantac, mylanta, maalox
pepto
eyedrops (any and all types)
multivitamins (no gummy vitamins... sad i know. but they melt)
prenatal vitamins

i also need a large suitcase that i will carry supplies in, and check--- then leave in haiti. if you have one that you are looking to get rid of, please let me know. if not i will hit up a thrift shop :)

  1. As always, love to read your blog! But do you think you could change the font? Finding it a bit hard to read clearly.
