Day three- Tapio: 78 patients!

Well a bug finally hit us. Some tummy bug upset a few of us. Tummy aches and more... But a little meds and some long naps helped us all feel better.
Most of us ventured out this morning for our third day of work. A long drive up a winding dirt road led us to a beautiful mountainside village.

((Mountains. Ocean. Village. Dirt road))

We pulled up and saw a good hundred people gathered to welcome us and wait to be seen. Most had small children with them that were very sick. These small babies were so malnourished, and so pitiful. We started several iv's of fluids and gave out lots of formula! Paul Gilliam is the iv king. He finally got a line in a very sick woman that three others couldn't get.

(Make shift iv pole... A tree branch!)

I wasn't feeling the best this morning, but pushed through and loved being out there. This was the most "rustic" clinic as of yet. We set up a tent and spread out a tarp and went at it. It was amazing to see  the people of the village come and help set up and bring us chairs to sit in. It was really neat. It also was really cool! Well compared to the other places. Perfect mountaintop breeze. Shady tree. Lovely!

It's hard to believe we are half way though the trip. We are going to a tent city tomorrow and archaie on Friday. Appararently the tent city will be the poorest place we go. Tonight we packed up four suitcases full of kids clothing to take and hand out. I'm learning lots of tricks for my future trips :) like pre packaging all the clothes into organized piles to hand out. Also prepping the meds in small plastic bags. Live and learn though. I can tell you, all Of your supplies and clothes and shoes are going so far. Thanks for the love and support! I'll leave you with some pictures from the day!

::can you see the chicken and her baby chicks?? They walked through the "clinic" half a dozen times::

One more side... Tonight we have had the most beautiful evening. The past three hours have been rainy and cool. Prob low 70's with a breeze. It's the complete opposite of last night! Now we are sitting on the porch watching the storm and lightening off at sea. I've really been blow away at the beauty of this place!

(((Update: as of Thursday morning we are all feeling great. No sickness. Feeling refreshed after a restful afternoon as a cold night of sleep!)))
