Sunday -Funday!
Look what came in the mail today...
Isn't that adorable! I kinda wanna frame it and smile at it forever.... (:
Anyway. Today. WOAH! What a day. We KILLED it.
First I must say, it was nice to sleep in next to my hubby on a Sunday morning. Then leisurely drink coffee while we watch this old house in our PJ's. If your husband isn't a pastor... you don't understand. I'm sure you all get the urge/desire ...eh lets just relax this morning and skip church. No harm done.... but in our family it doesn't happen. Being a pastor's kid--- it never happened. Marrying a pastor--- it CANT happen. Unless your hubby took the Sunday off for the heck of it. Most All Sundays off we find our selves out of town for some reason or another. So it was nice to be at home. Relaxing. Drinking coffee.
Ok. But that didn't last long.
We took our FIRST load to the new house... all by 10am.
Like I said. It didn't last long.
There's Ruby with half of our hardwoods!
(ps. thanks brother ben for putting her back in working order! Our 20 year old Honda still going strong)
After we deposited the first load we hit up our local garden store. Maybe a mile away from the house. We loaded up on veggies for our raised beds!
We have two beds that were here when we moved it and we were antsy to plant! The rule in the mountains is don't plant until Mother's Day, but lucky for us the 7 day forecast is 80's. I think we will be just fine!
We have bell peppers, banana peppers, jalepenos, tomatoes, basil, okra, onions, cucumbers, squash and room for potatoes. Here's to hoping we have some yummy veggies this summer!
Leia did a lot of this today. Play Play Play.
Okay. And then we moved inside. It was in the 80's today, so inside was a much better place to work. We started working on the kitchen. Ryan pulled up all the quarter round, and the thresholds between the rooms. Then something came over us. Once the thresholds were up, we could see the layers and layers of peel and stick tile just piled up. we knew we had to move out the oven, so we did that first.
EW. that thing is NASTY. I'll be doing some major cleaning before that goes back in.
Anyway. Underneath the oven we saw hardwoods staring back up at us.
We knew we had to look and see if there was any chance the floor was salvageable.
So begins our afternoon overhaul of the kitchen....
Three layers of peel & stick tile down there!
Luckily it came up pretty well, but not the black moisture barrier that was GLUED down to the hardwoods back when the first tile was put down.
Oh well.
At least this will make putting down the hardwood much much better.
Speaking of hardwoods, after we cleaned up the kitchen we open up our boxes of flooring and started sorting through it!!
Its SO BEAUTIFUL.
We are CRAZY about it.
Here is a little hint of what is to come!
LOVEEEEE it.
It's going to look AWESOME!!!
Needless to say it was a busy busy day! We got SO much accomplished!!
Back to work for me & the reverend tomorrow but hoping to get over to the house for a few projects this week before another big work day Friday!
Woo hoo!!! So fun. And - you should totally frame that piece of mail!
ReplyDeleteRecently I saw a dance floor made of hickory: gorgeous and glowing. Don't you wish your house ccould tell you a little about its earlier gardeners?
